Oh holy hell, my jaw dropped when I saw this thread. This would save me SO MUCH hassle if this was produced. As long as the price is reasonable, put me down for one. If you need anything, seriously anything, you have a South Jersey contact in me. Thanks a lot!

EDIT: If you're still looking for a screwed up Xenarc, check out this auction. If you miss this one there looks to be about 8 more of them by the same seller. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...759730541&rd=1

Hmmmm... I'll keep my eye on this seller. Let me get the Lilli faceplate behind me and I'll work on the Xenarc. The offer still stands: If someone wants to donate a Xenarc to the cause, it will happen faster and cheaper!

If you need that first metal contractor taken care of, I think he and I can have a little chat. I may have a nice pair of concrete shoes he can try on... </stereotype>

It just came to my attention (I dont know why I didn't think of this) that the Golf/Jetta dash is slightly different than the Passat dash. The passat looks like with the various buttons on the side instead of the buttons on the top. Do you think this'll still fit?

Oh, bummer! It's not going to work in the Passat. I might be able to make one for the Passat though...

This makes me all of the sad. Do you have ANY copies of what you gave them so I can see if I can possibly fabricate something from what you're doing, at least? I think the rack is the same size inside the case and the only difference is the outside area... well, hopefully.

Can you give me a measurement of the height/width of your monitor/dvd/powerswitch plate to see if something like what's in yours willl fit with some hacking into my car?

Is the one in yours self-bondo'ed? It's clean as hell, I'm so beyond jealous. Did you have to do a lot of modifications of the DIN rack? I know the Jettas had cup holders above the top DIN, whereas the passat has them below... Nevermind you drive an R32, no cup holders there... Oh man Ive edited this post a thousand times now...

I am very interested, and also have a buddy who owns a large machine shop who would certainly give me a discount for the work and would be very cheap if I had him teach me how to use the machine LOL. Never-the-less, I am very interested and was thinking of doing something similar, WTG!

No, the machine shop has the one and only drawing I made with a pencil and note pad.

I can measure the faceplate in my car and get you that info tonight.

I built mine from acrylic, epoxy putty, bondo and plasti-dip. I cut off the mounting point for the cupholder and removed a couple of peices on the back of the radio bracket to accommadate my USB hub. Even though the .:R doesn't have cupholders, it uses the same radio bucket with the cupholder bracket. Check out the pictures on my install page and you'll see the brushed aluminum filler that I removed - it used to fill the same area as the cupholder would fill.

THANKS! Will hopefully have more to report in a couple of days.
