Hey G Rod, I love the pic of the fabrication. HOT HOT HOT! How did you do that? I have a 1998 GS300 that I'm looking to Start my Car PC project on and I'd really like to fabricate a dash to perfect my install.
thanks for the tip. I changed to the Lilliput because of size - the 8" worked better aesthetically. I plan to use the Zenarc in the back of the truck as part of my never-ending project - phase 2![]()

Damn dude - that is soooo sweet. well done. Gonna askt he usualy question...what grit paper did you use for you final sanding and what paint?
Here's what I did
After sanding (not a lot with the Liquid Plastic products) using 150, 220, and 400 grit. I cleaned the piece with water first, then SEM Vinyl Prep (#38343), then used U-Pol Grip#4 (adhesion promoter). Then gave it a couple of coats SEM Texture Coating (#39853) until I got the OEM like finish. Then another coat of adhesion promoter, followed by 3 coats of SEM Satin Black (#15243)
The final product matches real well with my trucks interior, and the HDF150 lapel pin finished it off nicely.

Damn that's a sweet looking fab job! Congratulations - the stuff you found and the pictures actually make me believe I could possibly go that route and make it look ok!
I've just discovered the 'new' 8" lilliput that you're now using. I've been searching hard for a reasonably bright 800x600 lcd I can use (I have a 10.4" 800x600 sunlight readable bare panel but it's STN and I have no controller or backlight invertor to see if it's acceptable for non-video use). The 8" lilliput with TS is going to be a lot less effort to get, and probably end up cheaper.
So, a few questions - What do you think of it? Is it a good buy? Does yours have the touch screen? How good is it for brightness?
Do you know the sizes of the internal bits (the lcd and/or TS) since I'm thinking of doing a custom in-dash mount (I can go a bit bigger than DIN width).
Also, can you mount the LCD so that light shines through it - that could be very useful for boosting daylight readability if so.
Progress: 80% - Permanent install left.
Motion LS800 Tablet PC and dock.

Thanks for the comments and I hope it helps you with your project.
I'm happy with the install, but haven't put it in my truck yet to see how it is in daylight - hopefully tomorrow if it stops raining. Yes it has a touchscreen which was real important for me. The fonts aren't as clear as I would like them to be, but maybe I can get them better by tweaking settings.
Not sure about having light shine through as there is a big metal shield behind the screen that is used for mounting. Sorry I don't have the sizes of the screen unmounted and I'm reluctant to take it apart again as it took me 4 tries to get the ribbon cables seated correctly before it would power up again (seems to be a common complaint with the Lilliput).
