definitly keep it straight!
I have a silverado/ I am mounting an 8" lilli in place of the stock stereo and a/c controls. My question is, should I angle the screen about 10 degrees so that the screen in perpendicular to my line of sight, or keep it straight up and down like the stock stereo. It is a little easier to see when it is rotated, but will it look bad?
Another question, my dash angles towards the driver. Should I recess the screen more on the passanger side to make it so the angle is equal between the driver and passanger? I hope this is clear. Here is a pic of the screen resting in the dash. The pic was taken from the center seat. You can see how it is slightly angeled towards the driver. It wouldnt take much to make it centered. Maybe recessed an extra inch on the passenger side.
edit: I dont want people to be confused. I know the screen is higher on the right than the left in the pic. That is because of the wires. I need to make a small cutout for them. This will be fixed. That's not what I mean by rotating it to the driver. Obviously that looks like ****. I am only talking about rotation about the x axis and y axis. Rotation about the z axis would be retarded.

More specific please. Straight as in straight up and down, or straight as in with the dash, or straight as in straight across so that passanger and driver have an equal angle?

Please keep it straight up and down like the stock radio. PLEASE.
IMHO:
Driver == king (queen) the display should be optimaly faced for their best viewing. The passenger(s) can lean and view w/o jepardizing life/limb. --- or get their own displays.![]()

Why is that? I've noticed a lot of factory nav systems have the screen tilted back. It cuts down on glare and makes the screen appear brighter becuase you are looking perpendicular to it. Those are just some reasons why I might want to tilt it back.Originally Posted by skeeter007

But most vehicles don't have the angled dash and it doesnt seem to be a problem for them. Does this mean you think i should tilt it back about 10 degrees and leave it horizontally parralel to the dash as it is now? Don't mind me playing devils advocate, I just want to make the best choice.Originally Posted by grepzen

I had something like this in mind. Sorry altimat. I hope you dont mind that I modified your pic. Recessed more at top to angle toward both driver and passangers eyes. Also I was thinking to straighten it out left to right to have an equal angle to both viewers.

devil schmevil...
you.. the driver has that big round ring thing that makes the truck go where YOU want.
the displays you require/want should also be as YOU want. you can angle it any way that makes it easiest for you to read AND still make it look good. as for other's viewing.. if you're so hung up on giving them an eye of it.. then make it swivel-able so they can view too if you like. this.. is your world
