    Exclamation Don't use tape to form a shape.

    Don't use tape to form the shape before you poor!!!!!!!

    BAD MOVE ON MY PART!

    The tape is too flexible and slows down the curing process as its sealed from the air at the back. Plus its a mare to get it off after without wrecking all your hard work.
    I should have cut and shaped some ABS flat sheet and stuck it in rather than just try and fill the gap. Its curing time could be measured in decades and its just not gone as well as I thought it was

    Oh wel, you live and learn. And like the saying goes;

    "If everything went right that usually went wrong, wouldn't the day be wierry and long?"

    I used the ABS plastic repair kit from http://www.electricalconnection.com/...repair_kit.htm . It's a two party epoxy that cures in 15mins flat. I used 3 tubes at 5 bucks each. If you go this route instead of looking for abs and then shaving it down and mixing it with acetone....i recommend that you do not mix too much and expect to sand it down only b/c it's HARD! I used the UV rated bondo to then fill in a little bit. Prime and paint! I honestly would like to try abs shavings with acetone one day. I tried this stuff b/c someone on this thread i 'think' suggested it. Works great.

    I have now removed the tape ! The acetone has done some funny things with the glue on the tape, and its gone hard and burned into the lilli bezel. I have now re-built the side structures using ABS pieces that I cut from the redundant heater vents. It looks a bit rough but then all fab jobs do till they are sanded primed and painted

    Just need to let it all cure now so I can start sanding and smoothing out with a little more ABS mixed quite thinly...

    More news to follow.

    John

    Sorry to hear, but on the upside, now the rest of us know. So are you saying that block off the back side with some plastic tacted in place by superglue or something.

    I'm prob would have thougth to do the same thing with the tape and just slowly build up some thin layers, DUH!
