That's pretty slick. How did you get the screen resolution to shrink that 1/4 inch?
Also, how are those buttons interfaced to the pc?
I have been wanting to put a Carputer in my GP for a while and have been lurking around the mp3car site for a while. I received my Xenarc 700TSV-B touchsceen from mp3car.com last week and started to work on designing the mount for the display.
I wanted the touch screen display mount to fit in my 2000 Grand Prix and just bolt into the factory location without having to do any cutting of the dash since I will only have the car for another year. The HU opening for the GP is only a 1 1/2 din so it is a tight fit but I only needed to trim a little bit of plastic on the back of the bezel to make it fit. I am loosing about a 1/4" of the screen but I think that I can live with that
I included holes for the power LED and IR sensor as will as 5 push buttons that I plan on using for hot buttons. I think I might try and fit a USB port in the faceplate also.
The faceplate is machined on my CNC mill from 1/8” aluminum and the backing plate is machined from ¾” plastic.

I have attached a few more photos of the mount. I have not adjusted the resolution for the screen to compensate for the 1/4" that I am covering over with the faceplate. Once I have figure out how to use powerstrip hopefully I can adjust for the 30 pixels that I am loosing. I had to set up the touch screen before I attached the faceplate. I have not decided the best way to attached the buttons yet.
Heckle0. I can make a mount for you if you want it would be about $60

Looks really god dude. Been wondering if anyone had tried that approach.
Can you not just modify the skins to cut of the area you can't see and have them jsut black?
I assume using the screens built in controls would make it a bit too squashed looking.
THAT is a seriously slick mount for the monitor... and $60 would be MORE than a fair price for something like that IMO... GREAT idea and GREAT job!
