Do you mean the factory casing specific to your car?... junkyard!
Or the plastic bracket/brace that they mount a single-din stereo in to fit it in a double din spot??? Those are at best buy, circuit city, etc., for around $15
Anybody know where I can get a junk double-DIN case, or an empty one??
I want to empty out the guts and transfer my CarPC into it, and attach my LCD on top of it. Want my CarPC to be one single unit with all the buttons, connectors coming out of it (right now, LCD, CarPC and HardDrive are in different spots of the car...)![]()

I meant the specific casing. My stock headunit is a standard double-din. Just want to find a case that will fit in there. Is there like an online junkyard where I can get an old radio for really cheap (so I can rip the fcae off and modify as needed)>
Thx for the tips. Btw, I did check, but not many good hits.
Im not sure of an online junkyard, but it seems to me it would be better to go to a junkyard and pull one out yourself, if for nothing else than to be sure you get what you want... the other advantage being you get to practice taking it out on another car first; if you don't have experience with removing your HU, as I didnt with mine, it can be a pain in the arse!
You could also post a WTB (wanted ad) in the classified forum here. Maybe someone will sell you their old case!
I can tell you that my factory HU just had two screws on either side holding it in place to a metal frame... no real case other than the actual HU casing (attached permanently) Im not sure if you'll find what youre looking for, but I understand why you want one.

Depending on your car, you could get one fairly cheaply off of eBay, especially since you're not concerned about its functionality or features. For example, just search for a basic AM/FM without cassette or CD.
Practicing in the junkyard is a good plan. If you break something trying to get it out, better a car there than the one in your driveway.
OK, will check out local junkyards. Thx for the tips.
Check Out www.aerpro.com, they might have what you are looking for.

You might try a hock(sp?) shop..... they generally have old double-dins laying around as well. Even car audio places have old (factory) double-dins laying around.

Why not just take out your old stereo and figure out its dimentions? Then you can also see if you can have even more room, and increase the dimentions likewise. It'll be cheaper, and you'll end up having more room![]()
