One way to do this is use a linear actuator. I looked into this when building my screen but they were a little pricey ($120 or so). I took a different route. If you want details, check my sig for the install.
So heres my Dilemma I'm debating permanantly mounting two screens side by side (one for driver and one for passenger)
OR having one (actuator/motor?) driven screen that would vertically go into place on drawer hinges or something similar and then go back down when the van was off so that it looked stock.
ADVANTAGES TO TWO SCREENS
driver and passenger can control individually
will look cockpit like after completion
DISDVANTAGES TO TWO SCREENS
$$$
More Bondo work
if dash is stolen they got 2 screens now and all the custom work
.
ADVANTAGES TO ONE SCREEN
Cheaper
Antitheft
DISDVANTAGES ONE SCREEN
Dont know where to find hardware motors etc
More electrical stuff to do. (relays stepper motor?)
Screen in center may lead to spilling beverages versus not having cup holders in the 2 screen setup
I did some searches but didnt get much back are far as steppers etc
i was hoping someone might have a suggestion for an eisier way to do the actuator if i go that route
I need some options from you guys what do you think would be the best way and what whould i use to accomplish the actuator hardware if i went one screen
Here it is now
What it is like taken apart
I want to make it slide up from this spot LOWER
To this spot UPPER
Here is the shroud which will make a good base to hook onto just not sure what type of actuator i could use
OR have 2 screens at passenger and drivers access bondo'ed into the center console
