    bridging gaps

I've cut my dash and the 7" lcd frame fits but there is a gap on either side. I believe it was a 1.5 din space. Whats the best way to cross this to make it a very strong bond to resist flexing down the road? I have searched just haven't found any good answers. Thanks all.

tape it from the front with masking tape and fill from the back with ABS mixed with acetone. the tape forms a mold to form the new plastic. if you do the taping right, you can achive a nice contour that will require very little filling with glaze. the finished product should become one solid piece of plastic if your dash is ABS. see the solvent adhesives thread for more info.

I'm sorry i've never heard of this before. ABS is a type of plastic that factories use for molds, right? Where can you buy some for personal use, i'd take it, it would have to be in a liquid form before application right?

LEGO's if you got kids or any Home Improvement store should have some ABS pipe/remnants.

The acetone makes it a liquid.

Check out this thread (it's the one that was mentioned earlier).

Solvent adhesives... why don't more people use them?

Take your time and read it from post #1.
