The overall dimensions for the mount are 8.875" x 4.5" and the faceplate is 8" x 4.5"
Do you have a suggestion on what would be the easiest way to add an encoder?

Sorry if this sounds stupid but is there any way I could get one with the buttons on the right side? (for visibility reasons)

Same here. Buttons on the right would work better for me!

    Powder:

Do you have some sort of 3D cad drawing you can post? A lot of us will try to retrofit this to our Double-Din holes... I would like to get a better idea of what the overall shape of this thing is like. The mount is wider than the faceplate? I thought it was usually the other way around?

P0WDER, I guess maybe the phidgets might be the best option in this case, cause other options might endup being a huge hassle...

but in comparison to the price you got (pretty damn good) 35 bucks just for the encoder (not counting your extra cost in doing this adaptation) doesnt seem good deal... but I'm sure some people will prefer that if it works well... Hell, even I might get it with that!

the hole is 4x7 but i think he is giving you the overall dimensions, as part of that faceplate will be hidden, as he mentioned, the scewes will not show when mounted into a double din
