Did I mention I SOOOO want your center console? It looks amazing! By far the hardest part of the setup, IMO...

The console really isnt that hard. I honestly did it in a matter of hours. I still have not gotten the chance to fix some parts that came out bad, but I plan on getting to that some day. I am not sure if I just want to install it as is, or redo it before I install.

Well, I drive my car everyday.. so when I get around to doing this.. I will need to have everything hardware-wise setup and tested before I pull the console out and start wacking on it... or actually.. I should probably just buy a new one to use for this project, then I can spend my time getting it to look good.

But I've never done any plastic/bondo work.. ever.. The pc part of things is my forte.

I have a friend with an STi, he just ordered all his stuff for his carputer setup from here.. and he's making me VERY interested in doing my carputer setup in my corrado now..

I am planning to help him with his install and then he will help me with mine, hopefully.

Anyways, siv, what lcd did you use? My friend ordered a Xenarc 700ts for his car.

edit: Read above.. dynamax screen.. duh.. read before you post..

I might have to start searching the tex for black center consoles..

I purchased the dynamix/linitx screen because it seemed to be almost equivalent in specs/performance to the xenarc, BUT was much narrower, allowing me to fit it into the console without modifying the housing at all.

Now looking back, I would have liked to have the auto switching feature of the xenarc, and the built in auto on. But aside from those two problems, which I have created solutions for, the screen looks great. Not sure how well it will be in direct sunlight, but even the xenarcs are dim in that case.

Just yesterday I finished re-doing the console. I wasn't super happy with a few spots and re-filled/painted it to make it acceptable. It looks a whole lot better now. I will post pics soon.

If you have any questions, drop me a message on AIM. That is the easiest way to discuss this type of stuff for me. Same screen name as my user name on here.

    Edit: New pictures! Mmmmmm

Well.. I got my console off the tex and I have begun the process of moving the hvac.. Although, I pulled my dash all apart before starting and I think I'm going to move the hvac UP instead of down like you did. The problem with that kneebar should be eliminated by going up with the hvac instead of down. I was amazed at how much space was taken up by that stuff on the back side... crazy setup they had back in 90! :P

I'm going with a xenarc 700ts screen... it's going to be a tight fit, but I think I can make it work! I guess once I have some more done I'll start my own thread. I have my pc built... save the opus... so I pretty much have all the parts.. I removed the hvac mount today and cleaned up the console to put it where it needs to go. Provided I can find some abs cement tomorrow, I'll finish up on the hvac move. I removed the ashtray and lighter already.. that was easy! Man do I love my dremel tool!

He told me it's just "trim paint" in a can from autozone.. but it looks like the oem color of that rado dash!
