Although i have done the auto on mod and will be hooking a relay to short out pins 8 and 12 (i think) when the headlights are on (the blue lights will then light up and stay on based on if the headlights are on) i think what your talking about might be good for your setup but definitly not mine. I think the buttons are usefull and don't see the point in wiring up completely new buttons when the ones there work. Although i would be interested in conversion to the new lilliput housing. Armen says he should be able to get the new lilliput housing and new button circuit boardOriginally Posted by xdjxklusivex

probally of me. i just bought the trim pieces from a junked cougar. i am trying to get funds together so i can mod the shroud and the stock piece for 2 screens. one for nav only and the only for everything else if it can be done
here is the final before and after
The paint is actually almost a perfect match. I think the original one was dusty or somthing thats why it is showing up more brown.

Nice work, I'd say I'm on version 2 (soon to be 3) of my bezel creation. I'm also getting the cracking like everyone else and I will probably use these tips when I get to re-working the screen.
I'd like to add one thing I've learned:
PATIENTS!!!!, lots and LOTS of patients (and be prepared to sand for long periods of time)... My biggest problem with all of my creations was that I got too excited to see the finished product and rushed it along (when I say rush I mean like work on it for 7 or 8 hours instead of giving it the 15 or 20 it deserved), which in turn made the finished product look, well, not so finished...
Progress [I will seriously never be done!]

Carnetix 1260 startup/ DC-DC regulator
Software: Still, re-Writing my existing front end in .Net
@ Antimatter:
Awesome! Very nice 3rd (and by the looks of it) final attempt!
@ Intella works. I'm in the same boat... I've spent hours and hours on my bezel, only to rush at the wrong part and end up with less-than-perfect results... cracking, wavy lines, etc... I'm also on my third attempt at a fiberglass box to house my pc and amp... Needless to say, patience is key but practice makes perfect!
Thanks for the nice comments.Originally Posted by IntellaWorks
I agree with you completely about the patients. Expect to take roughly 40 hours for fabrication preperation and paint.
i wish i would have taken the time to do it right the first time. But there is always the learning curve. This is the first time i did anything this extensive. Aling the way i perfected the fabrication and paint techniques.
Paint is a beast in itself. Your fabrication could be the bomb but with a crappy paint job you could make it look like crap.![]()
