I think I may have posted this before, but my comp crashed, and I can't remember. Just wanting to get your opinion, and if someone could photoshop it in, that'd be sweet. In the middle, right where the recess in the dash is ,there is loads of dead space. Thinking of starting the screen just above the wood and continuing as far up as I need, with a hood and then a fan in the back of the hood to keep things cool
Second opinions, please
Lol I know, only trawling the net for as good a one as I can, before I get it back within the week (service). It's a Range Rover V8. And it is massivley immense for Ireland. But then again, I need space to carry bikes/guitars/amps etc
I think thats a perfect position for it. Most folks put the LCD where the radio is, and as fantastic as the installs look, if the thing is below the wheel, you cant watch the road with your peripheral vision.
In my opinion, for things like GPS you really want to be able to have the screen up near the window so you can do the quick glance at your system without totally looking away from the road

OK - found a pic that gives a better angle
I think I'd move the AV controls somewhere else (Maybe where one of the vents are) then create a custom fabrication to have a screen where the AV controls and current Headunit are.
That thing is screaming for a flip/slide up screen between those cup holders or a semi molded screen that is above the vents and sticks up above the top of the dash in a nice molded surround. Like the Mondeo at the UK meet the other month. (anyone got a pic of it? I think i sent one to cris)
I'd go along with what Scouse says and put it where the coin tray is. Aren't those 'cup holders' air vents? A nice flip-up screen would look great there especially if you could motorise it. Nice ride btw, I used to have one of those babies but got cheesed of with 15mpg! Mind you, my right foot was probably responsible for that.Originally Posted by Scouse Monkey

Yup, they blow hot and cold, pardon the pun! Heh, they are nice, and you certainly get moved over for and become the object of envy at school. 15MPG is being solved with LPG - seems like a wonderfuel, provided and anti-backfire valve is fitted. Um, there are two metal bars under the coin tray which would make a GREAT base to anchor the screen and then to fabricate the hood/surround around! You get many 16 year-olds fiddling with this stuff?
