    candy red taillight problem

probably not the right section to post...but here goes. I Just received my new led taillights, and knew I was going to candy the lens all red (instead of just the inside being all red which are the ones I bought). So after doing so today, I realized that one is darker than the other, and they have a fair amount of cloudyness or haze to them. If you look really close, they are speckled. I believe this is from the spray nozzle on the Testors can. I would like for the darker one to be lighter (like the other one), and somehow fix the haze and speckle problem and have them apper really transparent again (like when I applied the first or second coat). I read in another forum that it is possible to wetsand the taillights with approx. a 2000 grit paper and not damage the lights at all, but I'm not sure if this would help my problem. So instead of joining that forum and going through all the registration, I figured I'd check with you guys (my best friends ) first to see if anyone has ever done this and knows a solution. Thanx in advance!!!

hey well i did smoke my friends tail lights and i did experience the clowdy look on one and the chrystal clear on the other not sure how to fix it tho i would try to wet sand it with 2000 grit but its basicly just like using a piece of printer paper and just wetting it make sure that if u do wet sand have like a spray hose hooked up and make it spray ontop of the piece the whole time give it a shot! good luck

Could it be the preassure in the can drops off to a degree after painting the 1st one? Those Testors cans are small, maybe use a new can for the second light?

I'm really not sure, but the first one I painted is the worst one. It looks as if the paint may have somewhat dried in the air before it hit the light. Afterall, it was like 90 degrees when I did it. Would that matter??!!

You can wet sand them - I have used 2000 grit and more harsh paper on many cars with cloudy head/tail lights, then use some compound and some wax to get rid of the micro scratches. It works well... It won't fix the color issue - that is probably (as suggested) a pressure issue - more paint may be forced out with the higher pressure. I'd also recommend throwing several coats of clear on there. That will allow you to wet sand and polish for a great looking and smooth, durable finish.

Warm the can for better atomization. Polish the testors to make it shine better after its fully cured. I had the same problems and will use Folia-Tec next time.
