Fusion has a solvent in it (not present in most paints) that "melts" the plastic slightly causing a chemical bond. Most paints just bond mechanically which is why the surface should be sanded prior to application. However, if you spray it over anything but bare plastic there is no benefit. In fact, it probably does not work as well in that case or every paint would melt contain that solvent for plastic and chemically bond to it.

Check out Veteran Company on Pico Blvd. That's where I got my SEM paint. They're a nice local carpet/upholstery shop that happens to carry the entire SEM product line. I think they're a better resource than Kragen/Pep Boys/Autozone and the like.

Visited them yesturday. I got myself some SEM glossy paint. They said no primer needed for plastic

They didn't have any SEM flat paint that day.

I'm gonna go see the status on my project tomorrow

sem has a plastic prep that sounds like it does the same thing as the fusion spray
