could you give a head on shot of the center console showing everything to work with?
I may be able to give some ideas
In effort to make my lcd look more "factory", I have been thinking of making an on-dash mount.
Here is a rough photoshop...

basically I would frame off the lcd with mdf, bondo the screen in, and then mdf for the sides.
I don't have many wood working tools, and would probably more comfortable mounting the screen in something prefabbed. If anything comes to mind, let me know.
How well does bondo cure on mdf? Is there an easier solution? I have thought about fiberglass.
Generally, give me your ideas. Thanks![]()

I have seen an lcd mounted where the vents are, love it there, but i don't think i could drive with only one puney vent on the left of the steering collumn blowing cold air.

Search balsa-foam and buy a chunk of that big enough to work with. Then you can create a more OEM looking shape with rounded corners and glass the whole thing.
Fabricator
balsa-foam seems a bit pricey.Originally Posted by Altimat

Why not dump the head unit and put it there, makes the most sense. Easiest to actually accomplish too...

I like having the headunit, makes a nice backup. And the LCD there is too low.Originally Posted by sdashiki

Everyone says the same thing. But in your case Im not sure you have the luxury of keeping you HU where it is.
if you want to keep it, why not move the HU instead to somewhere else.
having the LCD up high where you want it invites all kind of trouble...too high, can be seen by other cars VERY easily, could be in the way of the drivers field of view, etc etc.
how is having the LCD where the HU is, too low when you use your HU in the same position....

move ur headunit uptop and make the piece for the headunit insted of the screen and put the screen on the bottom it will look tighter
This is much much less work.
-Install the LCD in that "double din?" space where the HU is. You can either us ABS melt method as discuss in in other thread or use the same material (SEM bumper repair)from the link below, and that is what I used for my Matrix Fab.
-Move/relocate the HU down to where the cig lighter is follow this guy instruction how to fab the HU there. Saturn DVD installed
