"ABS sludge"?
I have tried bumper repair and epoxy. I have tried fiberglass. None of it will stick to the plastic of my Honda Element.
So i sand down the shine of the plastic surfaces. Then what do i use to mount them together? What can i use as a filler?
I get the idea of how this is done, just need to find stuff that is workable and will bind with Poly propelene plastic
Read up on that. Will it work? I'd hate to mess up the surface trying.
This post says acetone will melt both PP and ABS. Check out post #100. Then someone suggests using PP and ABS chips together to bind it to ABS.

A pic is worth a thousand words.
Yeah, that wont work...
Any other suggestions?
Prepare the surface of the PP with 3M 5907 adhesion promoter per the instructions and then use 3M Automix Plastic Adhesive/Filler.

Thanks much!
instead of acetone and ABS try useing Metholethlye Keytone(MEK) and ABS mix it into a paste and try that i use it on all plastics i havn't found one it won't adhear ot melt together yeat and it is workable just like bondo once it hardenes
Another Element owner! I'm in the process of putting together a carputer for my Element also.
I just recently fabricated a Xenarc case into an Element bezel, using Oatey's ABS Cement. I chose the ABS Cement because it was already pre-mixed and came ready to use. Cut the bezel to fit, sanded everything down, then applied the cement to glue it together and let it dry. I had to do several coats because I kept getting little valleys where the cement was. Applied probably 5 coats of plastic primer, sanding in between each to smooth out the bumps, and now I'm about ready to paint. I've given the new bezel a little bit of a twist, and it seems quite solid.
Any tips on the painting process? Where can I find the SEM paint that everyone's talking about?
HEre's what I used...at Home Depot, they have this Expoxy that hardens into a plastic . It is workable up to 60 minutes so you can take your time and fully cures in 12 hrs or so...and it was on ly like $3 or so...
