Hi,
how does one go about spraypainting glass? Rough it up with sandpaper beforehand?

standard paint? GOing up town to get spraypaint (craft, for glass)
Make sure to prime it first. It has to be absolutely smooth before the prime (any imperfections will show if it is not smooth), use 400, 600 then 800 grit then prime, once primed, let it set for an houre then wet sand it with 600 grit, wash the surface with water, let dry or use lent-free clothe, then spray paint it with whatever paint.
Edit: Ah, I miss read the post, I thought you were talking about fiberglass - As usual, quick to draw.
Any way, is it legal?
I frosted it out with craft glass frosting which acted as a primer...then sprayed it with paint once it had dried. This is the result

Cool! post some more pics so we can see it better. Does it let light in less than a usual tint?

I'll go take some mo' pics now. It's really odd - when you spray the frosting on, and then the paint, it goes green in loads of places (not visible from 5ft away) and you think "Oh, ****!", but a bit of time and the paint soaks through the primer and robert is your father's brother

Some friends of mine work/own a monument company and i had them sandblast a little bit over a new rear hatch window i bought with the jeep logo. they called it frosting, and it lets light through, not alot, but some. and it turned out real nice. I have some plexi glass the frosted for me as well. I post some pics of it when i get the window back. but all i can say is its effin awesome looking!
this sounds like it could get expensive and very time consuming. tint would look better on both sides and it still keeps its functionality. if you want to go darker u can also use different combinations of tint. i think this would be much cheaper and easier to do. is there a specific reason you need to paint?
