    A question to you guys:

Would anyone be willing to custom fabricate my dash to fit a 7" screen nicely? Shouldn't take much effort, but I'm completely lost when it comes to these things. I drive a 97 Camaro, another guy did an install on a 97 camaro, and it looked pretty awesome. If anyone could do this (cheaply) then let me know, it may be a while before I need it done, though.

    "shouldn't take much effort"

Have you seen my dash? It's not anything special, but it still has almost 20 hours of sanding in it.

Go ahead and click on my link (in dash hardware done) below to see just how much was fabricated. Doesn't look like much at all, but man it takes forever.

Good luck getting that done "cheaply".

Now if you're looking for someone to do it good, let me know.

Well, what I'm saying is, not much should have to be done to it to make it look nice. It think the screen will fit snugly in the opening, but leave a little space on each side of it (since the head unit that it came from was an ovalish shape)

By the way, I love what you did with yours, looks really nice.

[edit] the bottom slot must remain for hvac controls, I can't think of any other place they could be moved to.

You might also want to consider setting your screen at a bit of an angle when you get it done. I don't like the way his sits in there. Readablilty with it standing up perfectly straight might be a bit of an issue, but I'm not sure, never been in a 97 camaro.

Yeah, I don't think that would be too bad, fill in the gaps, sand it down and make it pretty.

I MIGHT attempt it myself, I think I can buy a replacement if I screw it up rather cheaply (the picture I showed is from an ebay auction, it's like $5 + low shiping) or if nothing else I can hit a junkyard.

Yeah, like I said, it's not hard, just time consuming. If your going to be fiberglassing, it's going to take a lot of sanding. I need to post some pictures sometime of my buddy's amp rack in his car. He spent about 15 minutes sanding it then painted it. Looks like something my 3 year old would build. It's pretty f-ed up.

If I were you, I'd pick up a crappy, cracked, ****ty dash piece from a junkyard to start with. Just test it out. See how it cuts, see how fiberglass bonds with it, ya know, check it.
