Hey guys yeah Im still here, I know it has been a while but I am working hard on it. I have just received my custom servo brackets for the servo that controlls the hot/cold blender flap.
About the installation, it simply a case of removing your stock 2 plugs from your original climate and simply plugging them into the replacement climate unit. One bolt holds the servo bracket in place... and thats it..
Im still waiting for the custom silkscreen for the remote to be made up, as it will have all the climate features printed on it..
I guess I should show you guys the 3d models of the new climate unit just to keep everyone interested, since the only pics I posted was of the prototype unit.. it was fairly crappy.
Hey CivicModz, any status on that super cool awesome project of yours?
right now, i have the climate controls stuffed in the glovebox, and it looks like ****, not to mention i cant even adjust my hot/cold air mix. :-(
whenever you finish with this, consider me first in line to put some cash in your pocket. I bow to your greatness.
In regards to the climate replacement unit for civics, all of the components for production have been delivered, but the new silkscreen for the remote has'nt arrived yet. Here is a 3d pic as previously promised (main unit only).
n8r4e3, so I guess you have installed a touch screen in the dash?? if so can you show some pics. Im very interested to see what you have done, or anyone else for that matter.
Yeah, ill post some pix as soon as my bro sends back my camera.
Its not a touchscreen, but i do plan on replacing it with one in the near future. Pretty much all it is is a screen from a dvd player, with the plastics cut to size to fit the 99-00 bezel. Once i order the touchscreen i will put a touchscreen in there and bondo it up so it looks nice, but till then im stuck with my jerry-rigged setup. its not bad though, and it fits great. with all the extra room behind the screen, i have my inverter, and a power strip hooked up. Last week i put an xbox in there too, XBMC works great for most things. so what i think i will do at this point is have an xbox, AND a pc. The TS can support VGA in as well as an RCA input. i will use RCA for the xbox, and vga for the computer and switch between the two. I can use a crossover network cable so the computer and xbox can communicate, but i think i will go for a wireless hub instead, and hook up an external NAS enclosure so the xbox and laptop can retrieve media independent of one another.
The reason im going for an xbox, is because i have it loaded up with every ROM and emulator you can think of, even N64 Roms. pretty cool.
. . . i should really start a progress log of what im doing. At any rate, when is this silkscreen of yours supposedly coming in?
Installing 99-00 bezel
Okay, so i did promise some pictures, but they are REALLY bad, so take it with a grain of salt. As i point out in this picture, you just have to snip 3 plastic tabs off your dash, and the 99-00 bezel pops right in. NO PROBLEM!
You have a LOT of space back there for stuff, you could even put your computer back there if its small enough, (im wondering how big the xbox motherboard is right now) <scratches head>
the second pic is of the screen installed in the bezel and turned on.
i dont have climate controls for it yet, but im thinking of just filling it over with bondo, maybe put some buttons in it or something who knows.
you know how you are using the 99-00. well where did u relocate the AC controller....

With CivicModz kit, i can get rid of this thing. . . so thats what im banking on.
Well i finally ordered a TouchScreen.
its made by the SUPER brand you can find on ebay.
i bought mine for 203 dollars, its a 7 inch and has a max res of 1024x768.
The dimensions on the unit are 7.48 (W) in x 5.12 (T) in x 1.2(H)in
The double din slot on the 99-00 is exactly 7.5 inches wide, but is only 4.5 inches tall. . .so i think there may be some hacking involved in this. However, i believe that it will fit fine with a LITTLE modification. i will be thorough with pictures documenting my process as soon as the LCD arrives. (in high res this time, no more crappy camera phone)
Rather than make several annoying posts here and occupy valuable space, ive created a worklog of my progress on CarDomain. check the site link below
Oh and my TS arrived. now gathering materials. CivicModz, hit me up.
im usually online 9am-11pm
How do I take the heater control panel out?

Only my heater indicator light is out and I'd like to either replace the bulb or check for wiring...because occasionally the light is lit.
Please let me know.
