Will fibreglass and polyester fix on my original plastic dashboard?

I want to install a 7"TFT in My dashboard. But I don't know if fibreglass and polyester will fix on my original dashboard? What's the best solution?
In attachement there is a picture of the original dashboard. I want to place the TFT in place of the 2 marked Air-vents.
I hope someone can help me...

Yups, I've taken the whole dash off. It's not difficult. The dash is made in 2 pieces, maybe I will take some photo's.Originally Posted by davebateman

So, this is the piece of the dashboard that I need to install the screen. Not the whole dashboard!!! But now I don't know how to begin with the polyester and fibreglass. Will it fix on my plastic dashboard??

Well if you worried about it structurely, you could drill small holes around where you're going to fill. These will help it bite. I've had alright look with bondo sticking to polypropelene, but you might want to look at Evercoat Poly-Flex. A filler for poly and other plastic car parts.

Any reason your using mat instead of say kitty hair? (Filler with fiberglass builtin).
Not saying you couldn't do it with glass, for all I know you have a lot of experience, but from my slight experience with it, seems like you be better off with something else. Or make it out of glass and then mount it to the dashboard. When I was playing around with making a gauge cluster, I was able to remove the fiberglass pretty easily from the plastic cluster.
Ok, I've just cut out the 2 vents.
What product can I use to fix the screen on the good place temporary before I use the fibreglass? It's just to hold the screen on the good place when I'm working with the polyester... Some mousse???

Fiberglass does not make a bond to plastic even if you drill holes in it. Your are better of using epoxy resin instead of polyester resin. Epoxy will will make a chemical bond to the plastic. Another product that might help you is called Automix from 3M or Duramix...same stuff. It is made for plastic repairs and works very well.
You keep mentioning you are working with polyester....what kind of polyester? Polyester is a material used in alot of different things....you could be trying to bond a pair of your grand pa's polyester golf pants into your dash for all we know....lol.
