very nice, I like the HU above the screen....I'd say go for it...is you DVD rom a tray rom, where you could make it stealthy behind the OEM trim?
So i've been crusing around w/ my car computer for about a year now, making improvements here and there and i've basically had great success. My next project is to install my DVD player in the dash. My current setup has the screen and above it a retractable cup holder. This cupholder above my screen scares me a little so i'd like to remove it and put in the dvd player and some USB ports. If you look at the attached images, you will see one part that is the vent and below it is a little rectangle that needs to be removed. then the other piece is the cupholder. The cup holder retracts at an angle from the right side of the console to the center in the back. There is plenty of room for the DVD player, but only if i put it in the center of the console. The console is 10.25" and the DVD player is 5.25" so i have an extra 2.5" on each side to play w/ USB ports. I made a photoshop example of what i'm going for. I plan to cut the rectangle below the vent out, and attach the dvd player. Then fiberglass a facade to the front. I'm not really asking any questions, but if you have any comments or suggestions let me know. There's a lot of cool work going on here, i wanted to let people know what i'm doing. Thanks!

Yes, its a tray. I'm not sure to leave it in the USB converter box. This box makes the internal drive an external drive. I would think it'd be easiest to incorperate this box into my design. The only thing holding me back is the fact that the DVD isn't working well w/ my VIA USB chipset. i don't want to build this thing only to find out it only detects half the time.
