Lightbulb motorized hidden LCD screen idea..

    Hello,

This is just an idea of what I want to accomplish..I know someone has already done something very similar on their Bug and thanks to them for giving me hope I guess..

Here is my sketch so far..

Basically the idea is to have an empty dash with a cover on top..then to have a switch to power on the motor to engage the motor and bring up the LCD..for now the cover would have to be rolled down manually and tucked in the dash panel..

the goal is deception..to have someone think there is nothing yet there is something..

    I'll tell you this much:
The manual cover part is easy to do...

    Look Below:
For Sale: Carputer (CarPC) & RCA Y-Adapter
Newsflash: Take a look at my unsold stuff above, thanks!
Up Next: Make an OBD to Serial cable & Redo the "MMI buttons"

What you need as a generic crappy face plate that you could mold into the cover to look stock. Im thinking about using my original stero face plate to cover my screen.
Um, I guess this is where you put something witty.WITTY

i was thinking the same thing. or you can even go to ebay and buy just face plates for a few bucks. to me, a peice of black plastic with maybe an old CD player face plate and an old tape deck faceplate (that one id probably have to hack off) would be the perfect ghost. or maybe even an EQ. and if you have a HU relocated, under the screen, im going to get the double din stock HU and cut the front off of it and mount it on a peice of plastic to hang on the front, so itll just look like a stock HU with an aftermarket underneith.

It seems like you could simplify things by leaving the LCD screen in the upright position and making the cover a manual operation. That way you wouldn't need all that space behind the screen to allow it to fold up and down.

How about some wires dangling out so it looks like your radio was already stolen

Sorry to disappoint you, but you're not gonna see that installed in my car anymore... She was totalled on Sunday night.

If you, or anyone you know, has a '95-99 Eclipse (Any Trim), I now have this piece (among lots of other pieces) for sale.

you guys may want to look at the doors on the Scion tC it should give a good idea on what you can do. I have also seen a kit out that will open and close the door by the turn of a key
