While I can't find the link, I remember seeing a 95-98 Silverado with a ps2 cutup into the dash. The drive was put in the pocket below the cd player, and the switches in one of the inserts around the dash.
anyone ever cut up a ps2 and mod it?? i use one in my car for a dvd player, but i want to mount it custom. i have an alpine cva-1006 headunit.
and i wanted to cut up the ps2 to have the tray, switches, and controller hookup right here:
The tray is on top, with the controller connections below it, and then the power buttons and the tray open button at the bottom.
i know i could always use controller extensions,
and the power buttons should be simple enough, my only concern is moving the tray. anyone have any experience with this?? any advice??

http://www.modchip.ca/install/ps2/general/apartv456.php
That site is for adding a mod chip, but it should help you in taking apart the console.

I wanted to know if it's easy to extend the power & reset buttons to the dash while its at the back??
I have the slim version which looks to cramped from the outside, I guess as said , it would be difficult to solder.
I don't think doing the button will be too hard (think moding leds and buttons in a PC) but the drive is another story cus it has data ribbons, power cables etc.
Thanatos.
Why not just put the buttons and LEDs up there and use wireless controllers?
Xenarc 7" USB Touch LCD / 3.06 GHz P4 / 512MB DDR / 250GB 7200RPM 16MB HD /
DS-ATX 220W / Centrafuse / GPS / XM / 802.11g: 6db / RF Keyboard
i really want access to the drive mainly. i thought about wireless controllers, but i figured if i was moving everything else...might as well move the controllers too.
anyone ever opened up their ps2? i'm wondering if i could use a different drive and just run cables....
i opend mine once, because it was too big for the Porsche 944 glovebox. the drive is not IDE it has 3 different connections (data, audio and power) that look like plastic with metal.
