Do I need the lilliput buttons???

    Hi,

I came across a big problem today. I was going to work on the frame for my lilliput screen but realized the spot where my deck was(and the screen is going) has a height of 4.5 inches. The lilliput bezel is 5 inches!!!

I guess this means I have to scrap the lilliput bezel and try to make my own. It would be easiest if I could scrap the buttons all together and just make a frame for the screen.... Is this possible??? Or does anyone have any suggestions to what I could do??

    Thanks,

    slevytam

i dont use my buttons. There just in a custom enclosure i made. I did have to extend my IR receiver to another location tho. My lilliput is constantly powered on. its wired to the egg which is connected straight to the battery. been this way a year with no issues. If ur gonna hve to power on/off ur lilli you'll need the buttons or to relocate the receiver.

Thanks for your reply... Just wondering how u extended the ir sensor. Can you buy this cable from radio shack or something similar? How far might I be able to extend it?

    Thanks again,

it requires soldering skills... you desolder it from where it is now and just solder two wires to the connecting points... once you have it moved you can extend it to wherever you like. I even have my spliced into my serial port so i can control the pc via girder with the same ir receiver. You can get a small gauge wire from radio shack or anywhere n just use that. I wanna say mine is 18gauge. Try to get wire thats shielded but if ya cant find it unsheilded will work as well.

if you find the thred 'everything you want to know about your lilli' i think it was called you can find out how to program your lilli to turn on by itself everytime it gets power. if you dont want it on all the time, most people seem to run it off a molex or run a relay off the molex.
    good luck
