Sorry I have not been on the boards much this weekend, had a little but of mustang trouble on some black ice. All is ok but i need to get a couple scrapes and dents bumped out from the fender flares. Going in the body shop wed to have the repairs done. My poor baby got banged up

Anyway Im fast approaching a HQCT module purchase which will be the next major step on this project so stay tuned for some AM/FM RDS hardware/software

First off sorry to hear about the Mustang. I am sure they will fix her up as good as new. How do you think the best way to measure is? Should I pull out the factory radio and just take mesurements of every angle? Let me know what you think I should do. I am interested to know how the HQCT module turns out. Can you hack it to work with your exisiting car antenna? Also, you mentioned something about building a volume knob. When you do get around to it, it would be great if you detail how you go about that process as well. Thanks! I am going to send the money now.

Yup, measure the the OEM radio chassis. Height, Width, Depth, in inches. I will bend the chassis to match these dimensions unless you look into the dash opening and discover there is more room for a larger chassis. You can also use the autocad sketches posted earlier in the thread to determine if any modifications to my standard chassis are even necessary.

The volume knob i made buy gutting a USB scroll mouse. I basically did a little fab work to disconnect the buttons and only use the wheel sensor. I used a piece of 1/8" round aluminum stock to transfer the turning motion of the knob back to the PCB sensor. Works golden. For software I use a program called 'volumouse' Im going to try to dig up some pics of this while i was building it.

The HQCT module will be connected to my OEM antenna jack.

Tonight I was working on the screen fabrication. What a pain; but you will definitely have them by the end of the day tomorrow. I think its the same as the Mustang Double din, but I might as well measure to be safe. See the thing is I am going to fab the LCD into the trim and try to sit the indash case your building using a grinded down fabricated metra kit right behind it. I hope it works; I would really like to get everything in the dash. BTW thanks for removing the name. These days we are all just one google search away from losing our privacy.

Also, I got a version of your chopped down Win XP, and everything was great except when I tried to get on the internet. I tried just about everything. I even ran my cable modem via usb, installed the drivers , and took a direct route bypassing my router; but still no luck. Just wondering your thoughts on it. I guess worse case I can download TinyXP or just nlite my own version of windows, but figured I would ask first.

I would probably give nlite a try Ross, its easy to use and then you have an OS configured exactly for your system. My version has every driver stripped out and my own integrated in. If your not running the m10000 you will need your chipset drivers installed before you get on the net.

Im glad to hear the fabbing is going well! If you need any other brackets made for mounting the chassis let me know, i can bend you some 1" angles or something so you have some mounting tabs for the dash.

Sorry Joe, had a rough day but I definitly will have pictures and measurements tomorrow. Also, if at all possible can you snap a picture of your mouse scroll wheel you used for the volume? I am trying to make one and I think with a shot of yours I would have a better idea where to start from. Thanks again for all of your help.

OK, all the measurements are done. I am going to upload them to my server and I will PM you the link. I kept them rather big so you can see the exact measurements. I didn't have as much room behind the radio as I thought so we are going to have to keep the case a little shorter then I intended. I also have to mount the LCD pcb board, m2-mtx, and the HQCT somewhere in the case, I guess sitting on top of MDF wood screwed into the case, kind of like you did. I just hope everything fits with all the wiring, but I think it will. I am glad I went with the 2.5 inch HD now.
