Have you gone forward with any new hardware at all? Looked at any of the HD Radio solutions or Sirius radio interface from something like this?

From what I've been reading, there aren't many good solutions out there for AM/FM radio on a CarPC and this one will give you AM/FM and HD all in one.

My wife has had Sirius in her Infiniti FX for a few years now, and I'd really like to add it to my truck in a PC format, along with other stuff. I'm trying to do the research end of it all now, and put it together this winter (probably after Christmas, but before the baby comes).

I've really enjoyed reading this thread, and your Shock Skin ones as well. I don't want anything ghetto when I put mine together, so I'm hoping that research and patience pays off here.

Best of luck pockets, do it right! It pays off in the long run. I am going to be adding satellite radio soon, just been holding out because of the monthly fee but I noticed you can buy a year up front for good prices so I am going to hop on the bandwagon.

Also Just released version 5 of my skin that runs all this hardware, if anyone here is a RR user I would encourage you to check it out!

    Really Nice Setup!
I am starting to do a similar installation, and have som questions.
Is there possible to use the stock Shaker 1000 amplifiers to run the setup? Are all speakers driven by external amplifiers or from the stock headunit?
The best should have been to use the stock amps.
I have everything (almost) for doing the setup.

If I get the GIGAPort AG USB Sound Card with 8 RCA outputs I should be abel to connect those to the stock amps?

    Hello Daniel,

I ordered my mustang w/o the shaker since I knew all the factory stuff was coming out anyway. I did however make a chassis for a member on these boards named JoshOvercash (thats his screen name also on here and aim) who did a similar setup you are proposing using the factory amps and speakers of the shaker system. He has all the wiring diagrams and a working setup so it would be your best bet to get a hold of him. Josh and I worked together on getting it working but he will know much more than me since he actually did the install. Josh has got a crazy *** 05 pushing like 550+ HP.

He must have a different user name around the mp3car boards. You can contact him at EDITED FOR SPAM PROTECTION

Wow! Great work blk02si!! I have just finished reading the entire thread and have learned so much. I'm building my first CarPC and it's going into a 2006 Town Car! No it's not a stang but it's my daily driver. I have the install kit arriving later this week and love the idea of the DD chasis you have been making. Are you still making them?

I would be interested in having you produce on for me. I need to double check the measurements on the weekend but I think the ones that you have been making would be fine.

Also love the idea of the CF Card. I was thinking about the same thing, only using an SD card in CF Adapter. Not sure if that will work but, I have a 4 gig hanging around and was hoping to use it. What do you use to stop xp from writing to the disk. I know you had mentioned it in the thread, but I just finished 2 days of reading the thread and It wasn't that clear.

    Thanks for you help!

Thank You csurfer, This thread is getting quite large!

To answer your questions, I am still making the chassis. $75 shipped. I have some more orders to fill so I am going to be cutting a batch of them on the router in the next few days. Let me know if you would like to reserve one.

The kit is a direct bolt in for the new towncar, even the metra kit is the same.

I use 'Enhanced Write Filter' which is an XP embedded componet.

Attached is an archive with pretty much everything you need + a great HTML tutorial on how to get XP to boot from flash without nuking the drive.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes please I'd like to reserve one of your bolt in chassis! There is actually a new Metra Kit out for the Town car which should be arriving any day, (95-5810) it has the exact curve that the dash has.

Thanks for the archive file it will be a great help. I think I'll build the XP image on an old notebook to try this old so as to not mess up my main system.

Sent email to your gmail, will pull the dash apart on Saturday to check measure.
If you can dream it you can build it ( I think )
