That's the exact situation i have with the exception that the inside plug is not accessible without tearing a LOT of stuff out. I don't want to hijack blk's thread too much though. I'll start my own worklog in the next day or two for further discussion.

The good news though: the driver's side is finished and I have a plan for the passenger side. The end is in sight!
    Planning: Never ends!
    Parts: Strewn about the house...
    Install: Someday soon...

I'm finally getting all my stuff put together. Another 4 weeks and I'll be done with this semester, and hopefully will have some time to go spend in my truck.

To the point at hand, Joe is the screen you're using that 700TSV from Xenarc? I've found a good deal on a few, so thats what I am leaning towards, but I'm trying to get something that I know I'll be able to see in the daylight.

hey blk02s1 (Joe) - I just read through your thread - and your Bolt in Double DIN system is just what I am looking for. I have a 1995 Altima and a 1995 Accord LX. I was thinking about installing a CArPC in at least one (for now). Probably the accord since I just got it and it will fit my snowboard nicely with its fold down rear seats for those long 8 hr drives up to Killington from Baltimore. Anyway, I am new to the field, and am inquiring about buying a chassis from you, but have a couple of questions regarding what you include with the chassis (HD Mount, Shelf in chassis, tapping holes for standoff mounts, etc). If you are still building these let me know and we'll go from there.

Since I'm a newb, feel free to make recommendations on hardware. I can get measurements later on the accord, its my second car right now, so I can leave it taken apart for a while.

    Hello Kalenth,

Yes I am using the Xenarc 700. It came with the Hitachi screen. Daylight viewing is ok, if i'm wearing sunglasses and the screen is directly in the sun its somewhat difficult to read but I think this is true with any screen. Just have to look under the sunglasses and then you can see enough to operate. The transreflective would be really nice but its $$$. Using a standard screen in the bright sunlight is fine as long as you have a good dayskin.

Hmm... I'll probably go sans transflective... Here in Texas my dark interior and 20% tint keeps it DARK inside the truck... so I think it should work.

I got the machine to boot last night, started getting all my perephials hooked up and installed. I'm going to put a slot load DVD in the blank space where the cig lighter is under my head unit, and I think (since I don't smoke) I'm going to add a media adapter in the ashtray.

    woot!

what type of connections are you guys using to connect your car speakers to your CARpc? for those without amps to use the RCA how would you accomplish this?

and how do you power the LCD display? and pics of the connection?

fyi: once i figure the above info out i plan on going with this mobo unit:

Dude, you need to spend ample time in the FAQ section to learn about this stuff... the gist is that you NEED an amp for your sound, on board will not work correctly... and the LCD can be powered in a number of ways, on board or separate. Again, check out the FAQ to keep yourself from getting flamed.

    Welcome iuseyew,

The links posted are a very good resource to start reading since those are basic questions about the hobby. Don't be afraid to ask more questions though! I take it you are considering a bolt in setup similar to mine shown here in this thread.

I've been getting more responses about the availability of the chassis unit so I though I would post this pic, taken yesterday. I am not bending them yet in case I have a request for a custom size, not many cars seem to be true double din. I will have 6 available, .063" aluminum, same as all the others I have built.
