check these out, they may be of some use in your builds.
I've got one installed on my CarPC now (in the process of being completed) - and it works great.
Might be an option for your customers that want wifi, but can't use a PCI card.
(Of course they could use a USB stick, but I just thought I'd pass it along).
I'm happy with it so far, and there is a link to the drivers on the link I posted.
Note: You need the Pigtail too, its not included, but its on the site as well (under accessories for the module).
Hi Joe, Just sent you an email. Thanks
I finally got the carputer about an hour ago. I had just missed the UPS guy by about 10 minutes and had to wait until 7pm to go to the UPS warehouse to pick it up. Everything looks awesome!!
I have a few questions before I begin to install.
1. Is it set up to turn on automatically when the ignition is on or do I need to install a switch to turn it on and off?
2. The touchscreen control box: I noticed that the only vehicle power source was a cigarette style plug. The control box says it accepts 12-24Volts DC. If this is the case I should be able to cut off the cigarette plug and hardwire it into the back of the cigarette lighter.
3. I have one set of rca's for input and one for output: Say if I wanted to have hd radio and Sirrius. I should just have to get some rca Y-adapters right?
4. Does the unit come with wifi? If not, no worries, I'll just get a usb wifi dongle like the one that is installed for bluetooth. I figured out how to use my 3g phone as a through put for internet tothe carputer.
Imay not be able to install tomorrow (still waiting on usb ports from mp3car. I'm sre I'll have some more questions as I go along.
Thanks again Joe!!
I responded to your questions via email, now start takin those pics :D
Hi blk02si, email sent. :)
Got your emails j007, response sent, looking forward to working with you :)
i am interested in how you guys are powering your LCD touch screens? I was hoping to see an answer to the cigerate lighter question... also i have a Thinclient Pc that i will be using for this project, also does anyone have an idea of how to get power to a laptop ac power pack unit? since this is the type of power input for my thin client...
My 702 TSV is powered by either a power block, or a 12v Cigarette adapter. I can either plug it in directly, or cut the line and connect it directly to the 12V line.
As for the power to PC, a 12v voltage regulator should do it, or a 3 prong adapter from Radio Shack.
