This may not be what you're looking for, but you can usually buy that stuff at home depot, and it's really not that expensive... and usually comes in 3-foot lengths as well as some longer ones...
Basically, I'm looking at something I can mount my 2.5" laptop harddrive. I would I need around a foot of aluminum (or other sawable metal). The beam must be at least 1.0" (preferrably 1.25" on one side) and at least 0.5" on the otherside.
I guess this could go in FS/FT but it isn't really something people are going to look at the forum to sell. Whereas, someone might have a foot of scrap from previous fabrication.

But don't take it from me! here's a quote from a real, live newbie:

Thanks, I checked at the local hardware store, everything they had was pretty heavy weight. I guess I'll check a larger store. Thanks.
Home Depot DEFENITELY has it. I used to get it there all the time. they also have it in different thicknesses. so if you only need some light stuff - there it is.. and well. its gonna be cheaper too.Originally Posted by TheLlama
