This looks great! I'm going to wait on my project till this is available. I would suggest that you would want a metal enclosure due to the RF generated by computer components. That's why computer cases are metal. I'm eager to see this realized!

That is awesome i def want one

That thing is awesome, well done. When or any idea on availability? I am going to be doing carputer in my 02 vw B5 passat and the this double din case would be awesome! What kind of brackets or such are or would be needed to succesfully securely mount it a double din slot? I am noob to carputer but in dash is defidently the way I would wanna go if will work successfully without heat issues or video playback issus. I was toying with going with the EPIA-NL nano-itx modular board so that I wouldn't have to struggle with having the connectors all the way in the back and instead mount them in say the ashtray. http://www.FRONTX.com sells pin header connectors with 3' cables for all the necessary connections. How would i go about or what would be required to mount a nano-itx board to this case, would it require different holes drilled for mounting?

INCREDIBLE!! How did you wire the LCD screen?? Is the wiring exposed when the face is down? This is awesome man, mad props to your Autocad and design layout. I work with acrylic and aluminum all day at work and I respect your skills! I tackled a Double Din project myself except I used aluminum and have a fixed mount screen. I would make your whole chassis bolt in OEM brackets, thats what i did on mine and its much better than glassing together your interior. Ive also built an acrylic desktop case but I scrapped it after I figured out that acrylic is not very good at heat transfer. You should be fine though with an open design that lets air flow, Mine was a closed box. Anyway, bump for the engineering skills, and the ambition to acheive what has not yet been done.

    Thumbs up

    This thing looks thoroughly awesome!!

This appears to be exactly what I'm looking for -- a mostly self-contained double-din enclosure. No cutting up the dash, no pop-out screens, no optical drives mounted in other locations.

So when do they go on sale? :-)

that is absolutely fantastic. The plexi is great for demo, but i think aluminum would be the way to go for production.

    awesome work in any "case"..

Perhaps you want to come down to the next NY meet.
