How can I fit a 7"-8" screen here?

To Cris's suggestion I'm opening another topic where I would like some opinion
on where to install a screen in my Jaguar? Any help is appreciated.

P.S. I would prefer factory look.

relocate the clock and buttons besides it move the ac down where the cd player currently is and have a flip out screen

if u want to go even more crazy i would relocate the ac and stuff into the armrest not under it but into it right ontop towards the front n then fabricate the whole screen infront of the shifter

I know you want a factory look but it might look good to put it on a rear view mirror post. That way you can swivle it out of the way or even remove it easily if you want to without hacking up your Jag.
But I would prob opt for a flip out screen or poss the Xearc flip down depending on what the roof line looks like.

As I said, for ease of installation motorized/non motorized unit, or a roof mount screen.

The relocationg ac controls into the armrest is a good idea, but you'd have to extend the existing wires. Anyway, it would help if you posted more pics of the center console to see if there's any room to fit the ac unit, in the center console somewhere, or in/below the armrest...and just in case take a pic of the roof too...as a secondary plan...

    btw, where's the ashtray?

Here's what I think: Move the AC controls a bit higher than they are, and relocate the clock&hazard panel where curently the face plate from the HU sits when open. That should give you enough space to put a 7" in there. You have to take some measurements to be sure, but here's a graphic idea. A few minutes in PS and...

Cris, thats what I was thinking about it, it's perfect. What you think I will need the stereo?
I have only one picture right now because my care is in the paint boot for a repaint(just for some paint nicks, nothing major).
I will have to check what room I have in the "glove box"(which I don't have) too.
On the ceiling I have a small console with lights, garage opener and sunroof control.
The ash tray is between the shifter and the arm rest.

I think this would be even better. You've got to have the screen as high as possible. Perhaps you could even shorten the shifter a bit, so it won't interfere with the screen.
I really think the screen would fit in that space, but, ofcourse without the screen buttons. I also think this would be the clenest install possible in this car and the most OEM looking one, giving the little space available.
Take some measurements, and see what's the actual avalaible space, as this is a quik mock-up, and the measurements are very estimate.

The clock/hazard panel would go in the same position as mentioned above if there's still room. If not, relocated somewhere else. This one is easier to relocate than the AC panel. If there's still no room for it, you could lose the clock for instance (you won't be needing it anymore...), and then you should be able to find a suitable place for the shorter panel to locate in the car.

The head unit, definatly has to go as there's no where to put it. I know it's a nice head unit, but it will be replaced by something a lot nicer. Besides, an amplifier will do a much better job delivering the sound.

Post a pic with the ashtray opened, as that would be a sweet space for a Powermate, that is if it fits...if not on top of it would work too...or in that little pocket in the fron of the armrest...

Wow Cris!! That's even better then the other one before. I agree that I don't need the clock, the other buttons I will need but maybe I can take apart the unit and install the switches next to the shifter.
I would like to know to use PS like you. How could I learn at least at a basic level? Adobe Photoshop Elements is the right program?
Thanks for all the help, this way I can see how it will look like my car when it's all done.
I was thinking about shortening somehow the shifter too. If it's in drive it won't bather me though. I have to do some research on the shifter how I could remove it from the car, cut it shorter and re cut the thread. I'm a machinist don't worry.
I will measure my console when a get my car home and make some pictures w/ashtray.

That was just a 10 minute chop... PS takes a lot of patience, which I don't always have time for...There are so many insides to PS, it's amazing....I'm using it pretty often for a few years, and I'm still discovering new things everyday. I can't really tell you about tutorial, 'cause I haven't used any... Photosho is nice, because you can have a rough idea of how your ideas will look. If you have any suggestions about the LCD placement with PS, just PM me.

I too think the shifter needs shortening, and it will look better.
