    What is Bondo..

    Hi,

I am planning on integrating my LinITX 7" into my Peugoet 106 Dash, unfortunatly it reguires a lot of filling, i here bondo refered to all the time, comming from Ireland i cannot Locate "Bondo" , So can any provide me the actual makeup of what bondo is, i.e. not the product name but what it actually is..

Also in my travels i found a fibre glass / resin paste, would this be suitable in stead of bondo, again if anyone can actually tell me what product to use ad whats it is rather than a product name...

Basicly any automotive body filler should do the job. Bondo is a brand for a filler product.

Yeah i found some on ebay,

what i am wondering now though is a polyester filler or a fireglass filler better when it comes to bonding to plastics, esp the cheap plastics using in a Peugeot 106

If you have large areas to fill, and need extra strengh, get a fibre glass based one. I don't really think it matters what kind of filler you use...I actually used a special filler for plastic (bumpers) nd I didn't like it as much as a regular filler...

where us brits are from its referred to as P38 (bondo light filler equivalent) and P40 (fiberglass resin putty). look for that instead. Bondo is an american brand name.

fiberglass reinforced filler DOES NOT SAND AS WELL as the bondo type fillers.

It's a PITA to work with.

yes, it's ideal for larger surface areas where strength is of upmost importance, but for just filling, use regular bondo type filler.

Can i do it in a two stage, i.e. 90 percent P40 with a say 2 mil P38 layer on top to sand down for the right finish, does anyone have any idea if the two will bond toe each other
