Do you have a link for a good place to get resin or should I just go and look around for a local place that sells it I am guessing around like 2 gallons i am not sure though. And do I just cut up the mat and just put resin on it?

Check out your local marine repair shop, or autobody repair supply store. they should have the good stuff for cheap. For the mat, I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT CUT IT!!!

All you have to do is tear the mat into pieces, you will thank me for that in the end. tearing it gives you a nice overlapping edge that doesn'e add douple the thickness to a single layer. That and you will REALLY bugger up a good pair of scissors.

Ok here's my question: I think I got some really strong fiberglass mat. Specifically its: "8H SATIN WEAVE 9 OZ/SQ/YD". I looked at it last night, and tearing that stuff apart is going to be really tough. Should I just buy some cheap fiberglass (is it called cat-hair?) that I can rip apart and put that around the edges? Also, if I do have to cut it, would a utility blade work? I have a good number of blades so ruining a few wouldn't be too bad... Would I want to cut strips or small patches that conform to specific shapes of the trunk edges? Spawn, or any of you guys that know, please let me know what I should do-- I want to try and get started ASAP. Thanks people!

K, 9oz is pretty close to what I used. You can tear it quite easily, you would be surprised. But you aren't tearing it like you would piece of paper, you are more pulling it apart like you would tear a piece of fabric. Grad the mat by the upper edge and pull it as if you are trying to make it wider. it should come apart quite easily. Try it the other way and you will be swearing.

To simulate cutting 9oz, take 3-4 burlap sacks and put them together, now cut them with your knife, pain in the arse. And you definitely want to have small fist size patches for compound curves, trust me on this. And don't be afraid to go over the edges, you can always trim it with your dremel afterwards.

You mean my friend's dremel . Thanks for the advice. I am going to try and start my project this weekend. I'll post plenty O' pics. BTW Spawn, i r not worthy . For the record, your ride owns. Never would I expect anyone to pimp out a Santa Fe, but hey, you did an amazing job. But one thing you g2 do with that Santa Fe, throw some 20's and some 20% tint on that biotch... thanks again.

edit: Actually, it looks like you already have 20%, so just throw some D's on that biotch...
edit #2: No, nevermind, those are some nice D's

Edit that again slick, already have those too (it's all good, I haven't posted any pics of the exterior here yet)

Much to the relief of my upstairs neighbour, and most likely the spiders in the basement, I am finished for tonight. Milkshake layer went on and was sanded down on both pieces. My freakin shoulders are killing me, but it's done. tomorrow, primer, colour and clear, then we are good to go. on to the pics...

So for today, 2 coats of high build primer, 4 coats of colour, 4 of 5 coats of clear are on. Running the wires and such later after it's all finally dry and mounted to the floor.

It's all done and installed. Ran a few test to make sure that everything is working perfectly. After a small hiccup, we are ready to roll.

    Again, pics....
