So today I finished the 6th layer of the base mold. Tomorrow I will cut the MDF wood and set it up for my subwoofer, then spread fleece over that and soak it in epoxy. Then put about 4-5 more layers of fiberglass on top of that. So I'm pretty much mimicking what pcmofo did with his build. The whole thing should be done by Friday hopefully.

    Here's my base mold:

i'm doing about the same for my girlfriends car:

I'm nog sure yet if I'm going to make a flat front (just MDF) or a nice and beautiful round shape. Flat is surely easier, so I think that'll be it.

When this one is done, I'm going to do the same in my civic

    Install finished

Ok so I finally finished the box and it looks pretty nice if I do say so myself
It hits harder and cleaner than my old bandpass and I really like it. Pics below.

It's a tight fit and the hinge on the trunk hood barely misses the top of the box, but other than that, it fits perfectly.

The amp isn't hooked up here because I can't decide where I want to put it. It was hooked up and playing before this pic though.

So what do you guys think?

Yeah I was lucky to find some carpet that matches my trunk. In Wal-Mart, of all places. If you decide to build one for your 8's, post some pics of the process. I'd love to see how it turns out. Good luck!

I completed this one, next is going to be for my own car.

glued and screwed in the mdf front:

then i made everything close air-tight with some fibreglass in the corners:

and the result, with fleece on it:

Really made the trunk a lot bigger ! Now it's easy to put groceries in it

Actually, you can get precut rings online:

Just search online for "mdf speaker rings" Those ones are $4.88 for a 12" ring that is 3/4" MDF
