    My 98 GS-T Fabricating Thread!

I'm just making this thread to post pictures and get insight and swap idea's with other members.

My POS Pioneer croaked a few days ago, so I started ripping my interior apart to do some fabricating. I dont have my screen yet, but I'm aquireing a Pioneer DVDRW and some memory for my Shuttle. I'm going to put the DVDRW in the overhead console that has the button for the sunroof.

Here's the faceplate that I'm going to mold the faceplate of the TS into.. I thought this was awsome when I thought of it... gotta delete the lever that goes in this hole for the HVAC... its never used. I dont even know what its for anyways, but I dont use it. So I superglued it. The superglue is working so far but I'm going to break it off so that I can cut the surounding off and then I'm going to probably hot glue it in as reinforcement so puting a card in wont break the seal.

That lever is used to switch between air coming from outside the car (through the vents) -- when to the left; and air re-circulating inside the car -- when to the right.
I remember back on my '98 GSX, when I'd go faster than 100MPH it'd move to the left (open) position by itself because of the air speed.
I'd usually keep it closed during winter, and open during the summer, especially at night.

Ok, so I dont really need it. I could just move it or something... Its never moved on its own. But before I take it out, I'll make sure its closed... Thats probably how mice got in my ac system.

I'd leave it open. You'll fog up the car on nasty cold rainy days. Oh, wait, I just read where you are, never mind. Some thing to think about if you do go some where with cold rainy/snow days.
    Failure is not an option....

It's installed by default on every version of Windows.

Well I'm thinking about just moving it... Its on a lever... I'm thinking about just extending the cable and moving it to the glove compartment or something. And we get those cold nasty foggy days here. Not many, but atleast 4 times a year. Especialy in winter time tho...

I finished the Card Reader so far. I am planing on replacing the Amber led with a blue one. I'm either looking for some HVAC Silver or White Gauge Faces or I'm going to add a few White LED's inside the HVAC controls to get them to look new. Replacing the Green LED when you press the AC button with a UV LED. The way I cut the bottom up on the HVAC controls, it shines light over the card reader and so all the slots light up. I didn't expect it, but it works! All your seing on the Card Reader is just light from the HVAC Controls. Even the LED isn't lit up.

Modding the LED inside the A/C button (it comes out separately from the bezel) is gonna be very difficult. Be sure you read the article about it on DSMTalk.
I also remember that the whole HVAC panel is sold as an EL Glow gauge where it lights up in blue and red over a white background.

lol I know. And I did modify the LED inside the AC Button, can't you see? Well I changed the regular bulb for an LED... and the Green LED isn't hard. Its actually easy! There is allready a resistor soldered onto the board so all you have to do is just replace the LED.. no problem at all... I just have to wait for LED's... I am out now.. so I just ordered a set. And I know there is an EL Glow panel sold somewhere, I just dont know where. Thats the problem.

I decided to be a good person and help a fellow DSMer out tonight...
    Here you go

BTW, your car is a GST (not a GS-T as it shows in the title), because as far as I can see, a 'GS-T' is a GS with a non-factory (or custom) turbo. AKA GS+T, just like the RS-T's.

the 1st Gens were labled GS Turbo and my car is a NT W/Turbo. And so I just like the way GS-T Looks. Its my 3rd DSM. Used to own a 91 GSX and a 95 GSX.

And thanks for the link, I found a few on Ebay, but I still dont know... I wish OTTO would make a set to match thier gauges.
