    '06 Mazda3 + metra single DIN dash kit + AVIC-D2

    Pioneer AVIC-D2
It's a 6.5 inch screen size, perfect Double DIN fit.

    I own a Mazda3 s, '06, I don't think I need to link that up..

This is the Metra Single DIN dash kit.

Sooooo. I know at least one person from some research on the forums who modified that into a double DIN unit (well, they fit a carputer screen in there).
I have no manual skills, but since I already own the AVIC D2, I'm willing to invest money in a few dash kits and completely destroy them in an attempt to learn how to modify it to fit the Pioneer Head Unit.
How should I go about making this a double DIN unit? And making sure the Head Unit can sit flush and tight and not fly off at the first bump?

That D2 came with a mounting sleeve, right? If so, that wouldn't be too hard.

I have a used Mazda 3 dash kit that I'd sell you cheap if you're interested. My girlfriend t-boned a jerk who pulled across 3 lanes of traffic. None of her 8 airbags deployed. Don't let that scare you, I've seen 5 other front-end totaled Mazda 3s with no airbag deployment, let that scare you

Here's another (small) problem : BestBuy did the first installation, so who knows what exactly I have, I don't think they gave me stuff back after the install (or maybe I threw it away, I can't remember).

Either way I can buy the installation kit from a Pioneer certified shop.
I already have that Mazda3 dash kit; I've just never done much manual labor and certainly not cut plastic before.

Do you know what tool to use for the job?

Trevoke, you'll have to order that mounting sleeve from Pioneer. It'll cost like $15 for a 2 cent piece of metal.

You may be able to just cut out the bottom pocket and then ISO mount the radio. I'd just a hacksaw.
