    RSX Bezel - First Attempt

I've been working on this project for awhile, and this was my first shot at fabrication. I read a lot about the ABS sludge method, and attempted to use this PC-7 stuff to fill in cracks. (let me back up -- the faceplate of my xenarc was epoxyed to the dremeled bezel.) I then used the PC-7 to fill in the cracks and make the piece solid. Unfortunately, I forgot to take picture until the first coat of primer was already on.

Here is the first coat of primer I sprayed. I wanted to see where my divots and imperfections were...

Here is a picture of the PC-7 stuff..

Here is the bezel with a much better sand job, and some touch-up

    Test fit in the dash...

    Backside of the entire piece

And the piece after a few coats of paint...

The piece could use a little work on the inside corners, but for now, I'm happy. I'm pretty anxious to get the system installed, so more work on the bezel will have to come later.

As for the PC-7, I'm very happy. The piece is very sturdy, and the PC-7 molded very easily. The solution is pretty thick, so you can really put it where you want it without it running. The sanding was surprisingly easy. All total, the piece probably took about 2 total hours to complete.

actually, if its a minor flaw your eye will be drawn to it immediatly even though someone else might not see it. it looks pretty damn good. nice job.

not bad... but id reconsider not finishing off the screen PERFECTLY.. you see it every time you drive teh car, and it has to withstand lots of abuse. that was at least the most important thing when doing mine. i used a sanding block and actually recessed the screen into the dash a bit. it turns out the bose stereo faceplate has a nice cutout thats perfect for the screen. i think my rsx pictures are still up on here if you want to have a look.

i used a paint "trim black" from pep boys.. that gave me that perfect OEM finish as the side panel where the sunroof buttons are. they match almost exactly. some people think the screen is stock =P i just say yes, and go on my way.

I know exeactly what you mean. It's like that dead pixel that "nobody can see," but it seems to grab your eye everytime you look.
