Lightbulb Type of metal to use in building a custom case?

I'm going to either be paying a company to make a custom case or try my hand at it myself.

Anyways, I'm thinking about going with aluminum however wanted some opinions on which way I should go.

So what type of sheet metal would you recommend and at what thickness?

    Thanks

I would go with aluminum. It is light weight and seems to be the metal of choice for custom cases around here. Do a search for "veritas", I think he makes custom aluminum stuff. May get some ideas from his posts on tools and techniques to use, or if you are looking for someone to do it for you, I think he does custom work for people...

For the thickness I would check the custom cases that people have made, I know they list what thickness they use. If I have some time later I'll do a little searching for you...

I think platinum is the clear choice. From what I have found, it's only about $1460 a square inch for 1/16" thickness, or a very affordable $2760 a square inch for 1/8". Should make your case very nicely conductive, never corrode, and look sweeeeet.
But don't take it from me! here's a quote from a real, live newbie:

It sounds nice when you hit it with a hammer too.
