That would give you a strong yet very light sub box.
a)my oven isn big enough to do the whole thing at once
b)flat surfaces use available space more efficiently
c)i have to put large amounts of weight on the fiber to simulate it cooking under pressure (supposed to be under 50psi)
d)i wanted "a wall" look in the trunk
e)doing it with wood alone wout be: twice as heavy, require twice as much space, and be half as strong
    f)real carbon fiber looks better
g)i simply wanted to try it
h)i needed a structural model to build off of
i)it allowed me to use the preimpregnated fiber that i got for free
j)no one i know has anything carbon fiber, and its a good way to show off/conversation starter with many car/car audio people
k)some of the resin from the fiber seeps into the wood and bonds them together, making the panels nearly indestructable
l)the wood buildup allows me to *waste* less fiber because its a limited resource
m)fiberglass is heavy from its resin, but provides cohesive strength between the indestructable panels
n)fiberglass inside makes it air tight
o)i have a 12w7, and i need at least 1.8cubic feet of volume for a sealed box, but i only have 3.5cubic feet to work with for the whole box, sub, amp rack, wiring, mounting hardware, and space on the sides to run wires...
p)...one inch thick wood alone would waste at least .3-.5cubic feet of volume that could otherwise be made useful
    q)why the ***** not?
    r)I want to
s)there are plenty more reasons but i have to go to work

...just off the top of my head

    why not?

it's just like when we built the enclosure and amp rack and covered it in CF.

It looks damn good when it's finished right. It's something different, and it's NOT the crappy stick on crappy crap crap.
