    97 Jetta LCD Fabrication?

    Hey everyone,

I have been coming here for a long time now...but this is my first post....

I was wondering if anyone had pics for the SiGMa_X Jetta install from a few years back? none of the pictures seem to work...
or if anyone has any pics of there MK3 installs, I would be happy to see them....

I am planning on placing the LCD where the Crappy cup holders are, and taking out the glove box, and fabricating a box for the PC there....

here is a pic where the LCD is now, I plan on starting to fabricate next paycheck....

i've seen a couple during recent searches. The MKIII cupholder/storage area just begs for a screen. I love my '96 MKIII. Unfortunately I live in philadelphia and I want my car to be as subtle as possible so i have the screen in the sunvisor.

But anyway, my suggestion is to buy a new front console and do your fabrication on that. Cut the console a little bit to have a footprint for the screen. Take the LCD out of its housing and then you can either fiberglass or use body filler to shape the console

btw, get a DE shift knob/leather boot...best mod i have done to date

I have the 97 GLS jetta, and yea, something has got to be done with the cup holder/storage thing...its practically useless, so the place for the LCD would go good there I think....

Do you know of any junk yards where I could get just the console to mess around with, cheap? I dont want to cut up the factory one, incase down the road i have to give up the car or something....I live in the near Trenton, thats not to far from Philly......

do you have any pics of the mod you did to your car?

thanks for the reply Paulm287....that install looks pretty good...

so I went to the U-Pull-It place in PA today and picked up a new console for $15...and i also got some Bondo and Epoxy to mount the monitor....

I decided to get a Touch screen monitor, so I am not going to use the monitor that was pictured.......I am going with this one instead....

I know its a no name brand, but its the cheapest i could find...

I had an idea of puting the monitor pictured, spring loaded somehow in the Glove box, so when you open the glove box the monitor would spring up, for the passenger....so I would have the touch screen for me, and the regular screen for the passenger...

I am going to start a work log when i get the new monitor in the mail...

yup...I will....I am still waiting on the Touch screen monitor..its on back order till the 8th.... :-(

I decided to order a computer today! I got this one off ebay the price and size are right, the only thing about the computer i dont like is, it doesnt have a DVD ROM....so I am going to have to upgrade later...
so once I get the stuff in the mail, ill start a work log......

this stuff better hurry up too! I go back to school on the 18th, and i wont have the time or resources to work on it at school...so its gotta get done before then!

where was the u pull it place???? I'm up in Bethlehem, and I'm looking for parts for my matrix, harder than hell to find anything. To bad your stuffs not comming in till close to the deadline. If I wasn't going back down to school in NC next week I'd offer to help you out with your fabrication work. I finished all my fabrication work for my matrix in 1 day and had it painted the next afternoon.
