Hey guys,
I've been a long long time lurker, but just signed up today. I've been thinking of doing this for a while to my car, but can't come up with really great ideas. Can anyone help me with photochopping something into this? I would like to avoid moving the HVAC if I can, since this will be my first attempt. I am probably going to be using one of my laptops for this project with a USB pad and not a touch screen (any pros vs cons for this direction?). Any ideas would be great, thanks!

heres a quick one...why dont you put the screen down below??![]()
see if you can do that, low and hidden. Not to mention it's close to the gear shifter so you can easily do stuff while driving. In my car my screen is mounted high and i have problems with glare, way to easily visable for my liking, and it's a little awkward to use while driving. The only nice thing about it is that I can drive and play with it at the same time becuase I can use my peripherial vision to help keep tabs on the road for short ammounts of time.
Thanks for the input.
I was planning to put it in the lower section like in the chopped picture. I was thinking of getting rid of the ash tray and lighter, and aligning the screen with the right most edge. The problem will be lining up the edge with the bottom of the hvac controls. The hvac controls and the center column where the ashtray is located are two different pieces.
1) I've been searching around on how to run a cdrom cable to the trunk (where the computer will be located). Is this done by USB or do some people extend the IDE cables?
2) Is having a touchpad and non-touch LCD good enough? Or should I got with a touchscreen and mouse or touchscreen and touchpad?
3) My glove box is REALLY huge. I can probably cram half a body in there. I'll see how I can go about and fix a computer in there. I'm planning on using the small Dell Optiplex GX240 or 270, whichever is available first.
Here some more ideas for you:
