The 4 electrical nitrous pressure gauges that failed on my friend and the 4 electrical fuel pressure gauges that failed. All were AutoMeter stuff. He's got an AutoMeter Fuel pressure gauge on his drag car that he's had for 12 years. Works perfectly.

what were the circumstances of the failures? did he determine the cause of failure on each? were they the same or different? You gotta have a little more info than your friend's theoretical problems with electrical gauges before you can categorically say that electrical gauges suck for measuring fluid pressure.

The senders all crapped out within a couple of months. He's only got one "gauge" that's got a sender now and that's his oil pressure "shut the car off NOW" light.

it's kind of a broad statement to make with only having one product and probably similar installation location (high heat maybe) to base it off of.

it's like saying, my friend owned four cars and now none of them work, therefore cars suck.

It's totally different. Cars have many different parts, a gauge with a sender has 2 basic parts: the sender and the gauge.

    Anyhow:
Liquid filled plumbed N2O gauge is about $50 plus fittings
N2O gauge with remote sender is $240+

To the OP: Any pics of this installed yet?

okay, again, another giant generalization/assumption. first of all, we don't know what is INSIDE the gauge or for that matter what constitutes the sender. Was it a digital readout? analog? warning lights? these can all impact the degree of complexity of the gauge.

I know they don't have gauge and sender trees where they harvest raw product and just attach a piece of wire to them. And still, we don't know the cause of your friend's failures. What if your friend got the 4/1000 gauges that statistically fail? is a .4 percent failure rate indicative of a product that sucks?

Bottom line, there just isn't enough evidence to support your claim.

BTW. FC3S: there are always airplanes.
