    A Newbie Project...

    Greetings All,
Wow, I had no idea there were so many Carputer enthusists out there. But then again, why should I be surprised, everytime I think there isn't anyone into something cool - Whamm! - there are tons! I love when that happens.

Okay, on to more interesting things, like my Car PC project. I just bought a 2007 Honda Accord and it didn't come with a CD player that plays mp3s, so I was just bummed, and really needed a little retail therapy - what to buy, what to buy!? Tah Tah, a car computer? Why yes, of course, so I thought of different places I could actually put a small monitor (because "they" just have to sell those by now - ha!) So I decided to keep the in Dash 6CD Changer where it is, and mount the monitor in the lower console right inside that cool flip up door.

With the 7" Lilliput (629GL), it looks like all I'll have to do is pull out the plastic compartment (insert) and cut or machine the sides back about 1.38" - it should fit perfectly if the monitor dimensions are correct. I'd have a picture or two for you all if "someone" hadn't sent me the wrong sized monitor. It seems as though that's about as much serious fabbing I'll have to do... Any Feedback would be much appreciated!

    Regards,
    "Newbie"

You can use a Metra 99 7862 as another alternative mounting option if you can't mount it in that pocket. Both options will give you a nice clean look, i just personally prefer having it just right there open. But w/ the flip up pocket for security purposes is a great thing to have. Again, if you can't mount it your way, it's just another solution to use

    Thanks for the Replies...

    Hey Guys,

Thanks a lot for the welcome and suggestions... That console replacement is cool, but I am the kind of guy who likes things in hidden, not only for security purposes, but also as taste.

I will post some pictures soon, but I do have a question, have any of you had a problem with your engine light coming on then the Car PC not booting? Everything was working just fine. I got it all up and running yesterday (Sunday 02-Oct-2006), but something happened, and I am not too sure what it could be. I'll post this in a better spot!

    Thanks,
    Dregischan
