I tried to install my Lilliput today...looks horrible! I need help!

i'm looking at these spray guns you mentioned and I'll probably pick one up for this project (and future projects i'm sure) but I'm confused as to the source of the air pressure. Do I need to buy a separate compressor for air pressure? or is there something built into the gun that creates air pressure?

one last pic before I head to bed. The piece seems to be coming along well, finally done sanding the last layer and now it's ready to be primed and painted. I think I'm going to use a textured paint for the first coating to maintain the OEM look. gohybrid, please take a look at my previous post about the spray guns you mentioned if you haven't already. thanks!

yes, you will need to buy a separate air compressor. get your gun first and pay careful attention to it's air requirements. I think that Vaper gun said it would need up to 9 cfm at 50 psi. Just make sure that your compressor can meet or exceed that. The danger otherwise is that you could run out of air pressure mid-stroke which can cause problems. If all you're doing is small projects like this, you probably don't need to go overboard, but compressors are useful for driving other air tools as well, so think about what else you might be able to use down the road and plan for that.

if you don't plan on expanding your capabilities to include air tools, shop around the web and look at HVLP guns that DO come with their own dedicated compressor. These are a different breed that really are optimized for eachother and work quite well. It may be less expensive than buying separate guns and compressors. Check them both out and see what works best for you.

Every once in a while HD and Lowe's will have a special on their electric HVLP setups. That's worth looking into. They're sure as hell a lot quieter.

as promised, pics of the final product! paints still drying so i'm gonna wait a lil while to mount the actual lcd back onto its frame...but here it is. Thanks to all for you help in this little endeavour
