    Quick question

I took my dash bezel off to attach my lilliput faceplate to it, cut it where I need to etc.

My question is this. The bezel was previously painted by me, twice, so there are quite a few coats of paint and about 3 clear coats on it. Do I need to sand this piece completely down to the original plastic or just rough up the paint really good before I epoxy my monitor housing in place and bondo the correct shape?

ask yourself this: would you use paint to glue anything together?

Alright I'm guessing that was a roundabout way of saying I need to adhere it directly to the plastic.

Is there any quick way to remove the paint other than sanding? Soak in paint thinner?

i'd be careful with that since the same solvents that will clear off the paint are the ones that people use to dissolve ABS chips into sludge. Your best bet is sanding.

Just sand it down to the plastic where you're going to attach the monitor.

    Also, sandblasting.

i thought that it would only dissolve in fiberglass hardener,
BTW if there are cheaper solvents out there to make sludge please make a recommendation i have a load of ABS plastic i sawed off my door panels, and trimmed off the dashboard

i would sand, you don't have to sand the whole thing just the area where the action will take place

other than that acetone will take it right off.
