    the only two things that i think would make it look tacky are poor edge fitment and scratches. If you're thinking about back-painting the plexiglass to get the high gloss appearance, you're going to have your hands full keeping the scratches and swirls out of it. Either way, make sure that your gap around the edge is perfectly uniform. Those little details have a way of sticking out and looking sloppy.

    Very good point about having clean edges... I'll do some browsing around the site and try and figure out my best solution. I may just have to risk ruining this trim piece and molding it for a seamless look.
