Hi mate, the IR slot allows you to still use the remote that you get with the 700TSV. if you choose an option without you will have to relocate the IR sensor somewhere in your car, or live without the remote

As I've sat here patiently waiting for 3 more people to sign up I've begun investigating alternative methods to get this bezel...

I discovered that mp3car member Gordon (VeritasForge) makes and sells custom pc cases so I asked him if he could make this for me and he said it'd probably be about $75. Encouraged by that I had my brother bust out the solidworks. (attached)

I decided to remove the piece directly above the HU and use the entire space between the climate controls and the dashboard... a total of about 140mm. The LCD goes on the top part, closest to my eyeballs, and a slot-load slim DVD goes below the Xenarc. The bezel is 6mm aluminum and the cage is 2mm. The DVD sits on the bottom of the cage (maybe with some double-sided tape or velcro?) and the LCD mounts directly to the bezel. I haven't worked out the nitty-gritty yet but the basics are there.

Also... I know Jon has worked a lot on this project and I don't want to discount that in any way... I know it's been a lot of work thus far. I just wanted to check out the options.
