I know that I am new to the fiberglass world, I did a test with it and it proved to be a little challenging. I am wondering b4 I even start which way I should go. I have some tools to use but also wanted to know if I brought the right stuff and if I needed to get more. I wanted to put a touchscreen in the empty space, what is the best way to go about filling around the screen
Ok... I've never put a screen into my dash before... but I do in face know that plenty of people have. Have you searched at all?
since you are knew here though we'll go easy on ya!
I would strongly advise reading the stickies in each forum before proceeding with your install, not just the screen, but the whole thing.
Many of us have spent countless hours gathering information and putting it all into useable posts to make life easier for those that come after us.
Lots of great info to be had there!
You should also check the show off your projects forum as there are people who have posted in progress pics all over the place in there of pretty much the exact same thing you're wanting to do.
Welcome to the forums btw! Enjoy your stay!
Always such a warm welcome from red... :P
yes I've read all the forums that I could read I've been reading for 2 weeks now, have a ton of ways to fiberglass, went to tons of different sites to use and etc, some makes sense, and others dont. They all said if you are new to it use Wal-Mart brand BONDO, as I did. One thing about mine is that it the bezel is not on the dash itself, it screws behind the dash. The kit that comes with the s10- 95 blazer is not flat to fiberglass it. So I was asking should I make a wood bezel then fiberglass it or is there some other way. And thanks for goin easy on me.
You can use the aftermarket kit as long as you got the one with three different height bump outs I think it's a Metra 99-4544B. You can take the one with the least amount of poke and cut off the poking out part and see about modifing that.
Thanx I'll get it a shot
