    Fabrication for hire??

I have a 2002 Nissan Xterra and I was wondering if anyone knows of individuals/shops that can perform this type of work.

I ultimately would like to remove the stock double din HU entirely. Then I would like to move the A/C controls to the bottom of the dash(nearest to gear stick) and have the touchscreen monitor at the top of the dash, right underneath the air vents.

Any help or info is greatly appreciated.

Umm... Where do you live? A shop in Miami, Florida, USA wouldn't help too much if you live in Florence, Italy.

Your dash is probably pretty similar to mine, I have an '01 Pathfinder. It's not that hard to do the work, have a look at my worklog. I do not know the first thing about making fiberglass parts, but plenty of folks here do if you wanted to do custom fiberglass dash work.

    Georgia

    Actually, Im in Augusta, GA.

Ive actually looked at my dash and decided to just replace the double din HU with the touchscreen. It seems that it would be hell trying to swap the A/C controls. I do have a big cubby space undernearth the stock HU that I could possibly use. Here are my dash pics.

That sounds like a good plan. You might could put a radio and the PC in the cubby hole and even add a cover. There is probably a pretty good bit of room behind the panel.

I measured the cubby, and to fit a 17cm x 17cm mini-itx board down there, you would have to do some cutting and stuff. i'm not sure about the nano-itx boards. they may or may not fit.. i haven't checked. I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra. I already have all my parts to start fabrication.. I just need to figure out how I'm going to do it. My computer is going into the glovebox. I really wanted it in that cubby with a plexiglass cover, but I don't know if I want to cut apart the cubby or not. That would also be a sign saying STEAL ME!! I'm going to set up a home made alarm with magnets and keep relays with ultra loud 120db piezo's so if anyone tries to touch my PC, they will have some hearing problems .

Nano boards are the size of a CD, 12cm square.

    thanks

    thanks for the info..

After reading a bit more, im thinking about just keeping everying as OEM as possible in the truck, without hacking up the panel. Im going to try to get a double din monitor/pc/pu and not have to do major mods to the truck.

Deep enough for my touchscreen and entanglement of wires. Maybe I can measure someday.

Total amount spent so far: $1196.64

You will probably spend AT LEAST 2x what you initially budget for your CarPC Project!
