Yeah, and I'm noticing that they are selling for (what seems like) some serious bank on eBay. Easily twice what they sell for. I might grab a stack of them next time I'm at Ikea (if I happen to see them).

If they fit a mATX i kind of liek how cheap they are. What's amazing is that we are the only state with not one but TWO IKEAs and neither one have them from what I have seen.

MRjamie-steath is good. The briefcase is better than the tool cases. Tools are worth money and easy to take if in a case. However a briefcase, who the hell wants to steal someones work. Maybe a plastic Jack storage compartment. I have to go looking for one big enough.

Have it pop out to change the cd.
    Failure is not an option....

It's installed by default on every version of Windows.

mouser has some really nice simple metal enclosures in many different sizes, they sell the box & lid seperate, but really nice stuff to start with I think...

I looked at digikey and that's where I got my plastic case for my ITX, but I haven't found one the correct size for me mATX. I'll give mouser a look.

added. Also mabe me think of a VCR, you could put your dvd drive where the door is. Who wants to steal VCR's nowadays? Might be good for vans and such.

Ugh, I tried this once... The VCR's metal casing was FAR too cheap/thin to support anything. And, by the time I had all of the guts removed from the case, I had a ton of Dremelling to do to get rid of all of the standoffs, supports, plastic frame assemblies, etc. What a total disaster, it was such a bad enclosure that I never wound up even using it. All that work down the drain.

Now, TiVo boxes on the other hand are REALLY nice for modding. Unsure how easily you'll be able to get one, but maybe eBay has some steals for some old/dead TiVo's. (My TiVo Series 1 died, so I gutted it for the case.)

hahaha..sorrry to here your misfortune. I feel your pain. I can't even coutn how many tiems I tried to mod something to only find out int he ned it was a complete waste of time. TIVO box isn't a bad idea since they already have a spot for a hardrive.
